Service and quality
In order to maintain the quality of our newsprint, we also take on board the needs of our customers and endeavour to create a climate of exchange and trust.
A newsprint manufacturer close to its customers
At the crossroads of major European countries, our paper mill enjoys a singular location close to major printing facilities. In order to deliver reels of flawless quality on time to customers, our logistics staff are continuously looking for the most suitable solutions for meeting tight schedules. To achieve the goals of optimising the management of flows, making our employees safer and improving the quality of finished products, significant investment was made in our finished products warehouse in 2014 to automate the handling of paper reels.
Technical support for your needs
Our quality technicians and quality engineers are the indispensable links between customers and our production staff. In order to guarantee high customer satisfaction and product quality, we have put in place internal product quality audits. They help make the quality of our newsprint reels reliable and consistent, with a focus on improvement. These audits provide an opportunity to ensure compliance with all the points in the requirements at all stages of manufacturing, finishing and shipment. They also offer an opportunity to discuss customer feedback with operators.
Besides, quality technicians provide advice to our partners and to users. They thus help optimise their printed products regardless of the printing technique, and offer valuable support to the Norske Skog sales network.
Manufacturing process and traceability
While manufacturing pulp and paper, our integrated laboratory carries out many tests (fibre length, whiteness etc.). Inspections are also carried out on the manufacturing line using sensors distributed throughout the machines, then on the finished products by taking samples from each jumbo reel. A last visual inspection is carried out by winder operators before the reel is shipped
For their part, finished products are kept traceable by labelling to allow identification. Thus, our customers have essential information about their reels: weight, grammage, width etc. The barcode printed on the labels can also offer valuable assistance to customers for stock management. Finally, if ever a reel is not entirely satisfactory, its label helps us identify the circumstances in which it was produced and establish a better diagnosis.
