Partner of the local authorities
Norske Skog Golbey is the leading paper recycling facility in France. Every year, our company consumes 500,000 tonnes of recovered papers for its production needs.
Every year, we work actively along with local authorities to recycle the used paper collected from 25 million private sorters. In that way, the paper gets a new lease of life.
Selecting Norske Skog Golbey as the recycling partner offers may benefits to local authorities:
We have the same goals as local authorities, namely the increase of tonnage brought in through selective collection, quality improvement, adding value to recycling and making the system a lasting one.
All the graphics papers from selective collection bought by Norske Skog Golbey are covered by full traceability. Norske Skog Golbey is an officially recognised ultimate recycler, and traceability gives local authorities a guarantee for the payment of Citéo grants. Thus, we provide quarterly reports to the eco-organisation that is responsible for the direct performance of traceability inspections
In order to offer ever more guarantees to the local authorities with which we work, we have joined the Revigraph network. This is an industry grouping of companies that take back and recycle graphics papers, offering local authorities a number of guarantees:
- Guarantee of removal and continuous flow of tonnages of sorted graphics papers.
- Principle of recovery solidarity between companies that are in the network (the members of Revigraph agree to leave no “orphan” tonne in the area).
- Guaranteed minimum recovery price for graphics papers.
- Ultimate recycling guarantee for paper from local authorities with full traceability and production of a recycling certificate.
- Compliance with usage prioritisation to recycle the fibres by maximising their added value.
What is more, thanks to our 20,000 square metre storage hall, we can guarantee systematic removal independently from the needs of our production chain, regardless of market conditions. Thus, we contribute to guaranteeing the continuity of public service.
From the procurement of raw materials to the delivery of finished products, no less than 1.5 million tonnes of materials pass through Norske Skog Golbey every year. Thus, to handle these large flows, we have created a dedicated logistics system based on the control of inbound and outbound flows. That is how our NorFibres Logistics unit was developed, with the task of rationalising flows to avoid unnecessary movements, secure capacities, ensure transport traceability and guarantee compliance with contractual requirements such as lead times and punctuality.
What is more, as a responsible company, Norske Skog Golbey gives its partners the assurance of the most environmentally responsible logistical transport. Thus, for several years, in order to optimise our logistics footprint, we have been developing the use of rail transport in parallel with road transport. The development of rail transport is an effective way of reducing our carbon footprint related to freight, because the greenhouse gas emission factor of railways is much lower than that of road transport.
Regarding land transport, we prefer carriers with fleets that meet the most stringent anti-pollution standards (Euro 6) and take part in a programme for developing transport with trucks running on gas (LNG/CNG)

Norske Skog Golbey is recognised for the quality of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach. By working with us, local authorities chose not just employment in France, but also working with a responsible employer. Thus, skills management, equal opportunities and a strict health and safety policy are some of the fundamentals of the human resources policy of Norske Skog Golbey.

Environment protection is another key part of the DNA of the company. That is why we work with raw materials derived from recycling, and also virgin fibres made from sawmill wood chips and thinning wood from sustainably managed or certified forests. A co-generation boiler supplies steam to a turbine and thus produces green electricity that is sold to EDF. Lastly, we pay very close attention to what we discharge into the water and air, and to waste management.

In order to support local authorities, we have put in place a computerised system for local authorities and sorting centres. It takes the form of a web portal and provides great transparency for flow management and invoicing in real time.
In particular, it makes it possible to:
- Plan removals
- Track receipts
- Ensure quality control and monitoring
Because we have the same objectives as local authorities, we play an active part in promoting sorting and recycling along with our partners through communication action, by participating in the many events that are organised and providing explanatory material.
