By measuring our carbon footprint and ranking our emissions categories, we can prioritise the most effective reduction strategies to fight against global warming.
By measuring our carbon footprint and ranking our emissions categories, we can prioritise the most effective reduction strategies to fight against global warming.
For example, we are committed to contributing to the Norske Skog Group’s overall target of reducing our carbon footprint by 55% between 2015 and 2030.
Between 2015 and 2030, CEPI method, scopes 1 and 2
We measure the impact of our footprint in terms of the environmental impact of:
We chose to use this scope as it is the one where our impacts are the greatest and our actions have a direct influence.
Every year, we carry out a carbon footprint assessment according to the CEPI (Confederation of European Paper Industries) method, which gives us an overview of how our carbon footprint has changed and the effectiveness of the associated action plan. We use scopes 1 and 2 as the basis for setting our targets. Scope 1 includes direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by an organisation or a company, while scope 2 includes indirect emissions associated with energy consumption. If our customers request it, we can also calculate the overall carbon footprint of our products including scope 3, i.e. counting the transport required to deliver the reel of paper to the customer.
