STRATO : a sustainable packaging solutionfor a green future

Back from the Fachpack trade fair dedicated to the packaging solutions, we are delighted with the very positive feedback we have received from our future potential customers on the development of our new STRATO product range, composed of containerboard

Thanks to the conversion of the paper machine #1 (PM1), our containerboard will be perfectly aligned with market trends. In fact, we will be able to produce papers from 70 g/m², giving us a competitive edge in the low basis weight market. Our new machine will be one of the most competitive on the market, with a yearly production capacity of 550,000 tonnes.

Le laboratoire de Norske Skog Golbey travaille sur la certification Contact Alimentaire

Certification “Food contact suitability”

In order to meet the needs of our customers, our teams in the laboratory, quality and production departments are already working on the future food contact suitability and the dedicated certification (ISEGA certification) of our Strato range. Hygiene measures and procedures are being put in place so that, as soon as PM1 starts producing, we can guarantee our customers that our papers will meet food safety requirements in compliance with the regulated uses of recycled fibres in the food industry. All our papers are also certified, highlighting our commitment to a sustainable sourcing of our raw materials.

Recycled fibers are part of our sustainable approch

Our decision to move towards recycled fibre is part of our overall sustainable development strategy, based on decarbonisation. Norske Skog Golbey is more than ever a key player in the circular economy in France. Thanks to our diversification, we will be able to provide a virtuous solution for recycling almost one million tonnes of paper and corrugated materials, enabling these materials to be recovered and extending their lifespan. The investments made as part of our BOX project (which includes the conversion of our PM1) will enable us :

  • to optimise our water consumption,
  • to increase the use of renewable energy
  • and reduce our CO2 emissions.

They contribute to the Norske Skog group’s ‘Fit for 55’ programme, which aims to reduce our overall carbon footprint by 55% by 2030 (scopes 1 and 2, CEPI method, compared with 2015)

The STRATO range reflects our desire to offer quality products, while promoting decarbonisation and supporting the green transition. In addition, our sister company, Norske Skog Skogn, will offer products made from virgin fibres, expanding our packaging range and offering our customers a complete range of solutions.

Thanks to our offer, we can thus provide our customers with sustainable solutions tailored to their needs, as well as an active support from our local sales teams in all our markets.

We are convinced that this new range will satisfy our future customers and will be a precious contribution to the environment and the future of the world of packaging.
